The 7 Quiet Rituals our Guests Love Most

Far beyond the tranquil setting of Calabash grounds, what our guests remember most is the subtle formalities from their experience with us. From simply having their name remembered from arrival, to personal preferences anticipated ahead of time. With over 50% return rate, we impress these as our most important values because to us, Calabash feels more like an extension of our family home. These are the quiet rituals that our guests love the most:

In-suite breakfast

Breakfast on your private balcony or terrace overlooking our peaceful botanical gardens has been a long-standing tradition at Calabash, which harks back to its very beginnings. Only in recent years have we introduced the option to have breakfast on the beach.

For our in-suite breakfast, guests request their meal and time they’d like it to be served the day prior. This has been a favourite for many of our guests, a feeling they say is like an extension of being at home, without having to cook or clear. It sets the relaxed tone for the day, with the knowledge that you don’t have to fully get ready for the day to enjoy your first meal of the day.

Remembering names

Who doesn’t like having their name remembered? That familial and reassuring trait that makes us seen and valued is second to none. From our own experience of visiting other hotels, it’s easy to fall into the feeling that we’re just another number with nothing personal about us remembered, let alone our name. Numerous guests have noted how welcome and special they feel from simply having their name remembered by the team at Calabash. For us, it is such an important part of human connection, and one we always endeavour to impress upon.

Personal preferences

Something we pride ourselves on at Calabash, is remembering the small intracies that guests love. Whether it is having an extra cushion on your seat over lunch, or a special cocktail served at sunset, we understand that although these are small acts of thoughtfulness, these will be the parts that will stand out most when you recall your holiday. Because it is one less request for you to make, meaning you can fully switch off and be present in the moment of just being.

Going above and beyond to make our guests feel happy and always considered is our ultimate objective at Calabash. We want everything to feel special and personalised to you, which ultimately it makes us happy in return.

Sunset canapés

Every evening near sunset, all guests have a small selection of canapés delivered to their suite. A little gesture from us to make that magic twilight hour to unwind as afternoon transitions into evening.

Complimentary Afternoon Tea

Included throughout all room rates, is complimentary Afternoon Tea. Served from 3:30 - 4:30pm, accompanied with your tea and coffee are a bite-size collection of pastries and sandwiches, both sweet and savoury so you unwind from the day time activities.

Welcoming guests like family

Our favourite part of the day is welcoming arriving guests to the Hotel. A selection of our team is always gathered at our entrance to greet you. In almost four decades of us running the hotel, it is something that we’ve always done and is mutually enjoyed by guests and staff alike. We know what it feels like to feel a bit disorientated after a long flight in a foreign country, and so our welcome serves to be the antidote of this after the stress of travelling. Our welcome is our signal that all your needs will be looked after for the duration of your stay.

Late Check-out

Our typical check-out time is 12pm, but we know that many don’t depart until later in the afternoon. We always do our best to offer you a complimentary late-check out for later flights so you don’t have to rush preparing for your flight and have those precious last few hours of your holiday feeling like a waiting room. If your original suite is not available for late check-out, we will always offer you an alternative suite to get ready in, subject to availability.
