Exploring Grenada: Top Beaches and Island Attractions

Have you recently planned a trip to Grenada and are wondering what to see and do? Here’s our top tips as an insider from our favourite beaches to island attractions. We’ve selected our top 5, so if you’re limited on time, use this as your ultimate guide.

Prickly Bay Beach at Calabash

Top Beaches in Grenada

Apart from Lanse Aux Epines beach, where Calabash is located, we also recommend also visiting Grand Anse Beach and Morne Rouge Beach (also known as BBC Beach). Grand Anse is a two-mile long white sand beach offering panoramic views of the capital St. George’s, it houses a multitude of beach bars and restaurants and is enjoyed by locals and visitors alike. You can also visit Morne Rouge beach on the same day as its walkable from Grand Anse. Morne Rouge boasts calm, crystal clear blue waters in a quiet cove. With less beach bars and foot fall, its easy to spend the day here quietly soaking in the sun and vitamin sea.

Eat Like a Grenadian

At the heart every Grenadian is our love for food and the flavour-rich bounty our land produces. Our friends at Hospitality Homestead bring this full circle, with a guided tour of their homestead to learn the medicinal benefits of the plants grown there. Later on you get the chance to indulge in a ‘garden-to-table’ feast of local dishes, with the opportunity to assist in preparing our national dishes.

View from Mt Qua Qua in Grenada

Head for the hills

If you are looking for just one hike to do on your trip to Grenada, look no further. At the heart of the island lies a crater lake, Grand Etang, which is from an extinct volcano responsible for the creation of the island. From this point, you can hike Mt. Qua Qua where you can soak in unspoilt panoramic views of Grenada. The hike is approximately one-hour to reach the summit so can easily be completed in a morning, allowing you time in the afternoon to have a well-earned laze on the beach.

Mt Carmel waterfall in Grenada

Bathe in a secluded Waterfall

You can’t visit Grenada without visiting at least one waterfall. The one we always recommend is Mt. Carmel. Mt. Carmel is much more off-the-beaten track waterfall than the tourist hotspots of Annandale and Concorde Falls. Just a short hike for you to feel as though you’ve arrived in a Jurassic haven, untouched by the outside world. There is truly nothing quite like it.

Sundowners at sea

A visit to Grenada is not complete without experiencing it from the water. And we think it’s best enjoyed at sunset on a traditional wooden sailing boat chartered by Savvy’s sailing adventure. Rum punches to hand, it is the ultimate way to toast to a well-rounded trip to Grenada.
